Its because we are playing in the Dorian minor mode, the most common in funk when playing over a minor 7 chord
You want to play in the Aolian mode (with the Bb), which has another flavor (the flatted 6th). The Aolian mode is the 6 step of a Major scale
So its two different minorscales and it depends on the context which you will use
If playing in a minor KEY with several chords belonging to the minor key, you will play over the Aolian
But playing a over a single m7 chord groove/vamp you can choose between both scales

Hello. I have a question abut this. I hope You can help me to understand. So If we play on Dm7 chord I can think of it as a 2nd step of Cmajor scale and so on... But when I play for example 3 step which is Em minor pentatonic it includes H(simple B), but Dm has an Bflat. It does not really sound good. Can You please explain your approach to these things?

Very good lesson Thomas, clear and complete. Not easy to explain harmony and improvisation but you did it well.
We want more!!
