Thanks Gigu… is that Ebmaj7 or Eb dominant 7th? Sorry for the stupid question as I thought that Ebmaj7 and Eb was the same thing. I have a lot to learn!
Regards,
Mike
Hi Mike!
The third of the second (Abmaj7) and the last chord (Eb7).
Keep on groovin….
Gigu
Thankyou, fantastic lesson! I can play and understand it all except the last bit as I can’t see or understand where the third comes in to play… the third of which chord?
Cheers,
Mike
Hola!
Here is a link to tabs of all the scales we went through:
http://www.bassic.ch/w_skalen.asp
Make sure to be common with all these before you try this
example. Also rhythmically this video is not for very
beginners. But listen to it often and sing the bassline along.
What you can sing is no big problem to play!!!
Saludos
Gigu
This was great, as are all of the videos on this site (my favorite “learn bass site!”) but tab would really help.
I realize it’s extra work and takes up space to put the tab, but it would really help beginners like me who don’t have “the ear yet.” In this example, once he started on the whole lick with the Mixolodian scale, I was lost.
Keep up the good work, please! I’ve learned much already.

Hi Mike!
First of all: stupid questions don´t exist, cos every question shows that you think about what you are doing/playing.
In this case its a Eb7 chord. You can hear in variation C, that i play the Db flat which is the small seven of Eb7. You are right that Ebmaj7 (Eb,G,Bb,D) and Eb (Eb,G,Bb) is almost the same.
As you can see just the 7th is not played in Eb.
