Lecture about the foundation of the music we know – the major scale ; its use and why its such a good idea to learn.

Whole thing is almost 30 minutes but ive divided it into three parts, first today – so hang in there;-)

We are “harmonizing” the major scale – building a chord an each step of the scale and numbering them as we move along (this is also known as the “Nashville number system” used by the studio musicians fro writing down songs)
Also an introduction to learning to analyze the most common chords and progressions in songs, so we can learn tunes faster and transpose them easily too .

For further written explanation revisit this lesson on playing bass lines over triads

This is really great, thankyou so much. How did you become so fluent in all of this?

I’m having a problem trying to figure out the fingering of the triads. I know where to put my fingers for the root and third, but not the fifth.

I have been searching hi and low for a resource like this. More or less clear and concise, no fluff just facts. I love it!

MarloweDK: Spike| Well, thank you for the thumb(s) up:-)

MarloweDK: Hmm, the link has gone missing, let me locate it and get back to you

Murdy: Hey Marlowe, I bought the L253 in order toget the backing track. However, there is no backing track without the bass. Is there a way to get this?

hank: Thanks Marlowe! I guess I better start saving up. I can't wait to get one. I'm positive if I get one then my playing automatically gets funkier right? :)

MarloweDK: Hank: my sig bass will be presented at the Frankfurt musik messe in march. I dont know of the price but i guess it will be priced in the same range as Sandbergs California models. There is a couple of american retailers, check Sandbergs site.

soporific: Hi guys!

Harry Popper: hi, GospelBassMan

GospelBassMan: Hello community!!

hank: Will your bass be mass produced? Do you think it will be affordable (relatively speaking) Will it be offered online for us Americans that wanna buy it?

chooty: Thank you very much.
